Passion for the Legal System and Business Leads Student to Syracuse and Whitman

Alejandro Kreimerman Meyohas

3+3 Whitman/Law

  • Undergraduate Dual

What I love most about the 3+3 Program and the degrees I plan to complete is the wide range of opportunities I have to work in different industries. These are sectors where there will always be a need for lawyers or accountants, and using my degree to get into places I am interested in is just another advantage I can enjoy.

When looking for schools with unique law programs away from his hometown in Mexico City, Alejandro Kreimerman Meyohas ’25 found that Syracuse University and the Martin J. Whitman School of Management’s 3 + 3 Program was a perfect fit for him. As part of the 3+3 Program, Kreimerman Meyohas will graduate with an undergraduate degree in accounting in three years from the Whitman School and a juris doctor degree in law from the Syracuse College of Law in the three years following his undergraduate degree.

Although Syracuse University naturally stood out to Kreimerman Meyohas because of its academic and sports reputation on both a national and international level, he credits Amparo Silva, director of global partnerships for the University, for solidifying his decision. As an international student, Kreimerman Meyohas said that Syracuse was originally intimidating to him due to its size and thought that it may be hard to develop personal relationships, but after talking with Silva, he realized that the people working and studying at the school can make it feel just like home.

Kreimerman Meyohas says, “She made me fall in love with the school, but, most importantly, she made me feel like it was a place that wanted me to be there and a place where I would be welcomed by everyone in the community.”

After realizing how one interaction can change the direction of a student's college career, Kreimerman Meyohas decided to become a Whitman Ambassador, which he says was “one of the most rewarding experiences of my time at Whitman.” Giving prospective students tours, he was able to work on his soft skills, such as public speaking and becoming a leader, which is something that he says is essential to working in any industry. He has also been able to see how much of an impact he has on prospective students' lives. He recalls a time when a student approached him to say he was the reason they were at Whitman.

Kreimerman Meyohas says, “Having the chance to do that for many other students and being able to connect and build a relationship from the first moment they step into Whitman is incomparable.”

As Kreimerman Meyohas started immersing himself into his coursework, he realized that he had chosen the right program. At the Whitman School, there is a class called “Intro to the Legal System,” which he took with Professor Lisa Knych. Kreimerman Meyohas enjoyed learning about the intersections between business and law, which is eventually what he wants to pursue

In learning more about his passion within the legal system and the business world, Kreimerman Meyohas has also found himself interested in the sports industry. He says that this pursuit would not be possible without the 3 +3 Program, which has opened his eyes to how many opportunities there are for students like him.

“What I love most about the 3+3 Program and the degrees I plan to complete is the wide range of opportunities I have to work in different industries. These are sectors where there will always be a need for lawyers or accountants, and using my degree to get into places I am interested in is just another advantage I can enjoy,” he says.

Although Kreimerman Meyohas has found the course load with the 3 + 3 program to be challenging at times, he says that it has allowed him to improve on skills such as discipline, organization and prioritization. He understands that these skills will help him later on when he becomes a law student, but also how practical they are in everyday life. He has been able to apply these skills both as a resident advisor on campus as well as being a member of Delta Sigma Pi, a professional fraternity.

As an international student, Kreimerman Meyohas recalls how daunting it was for him to come to Syracuse, however, he says that if he move out of his comfort zone, anyone can. He advises other international students who are thinking of applying to Whitman “to have an open mind, to be open to new ideas and share their own to have a more complete and enriching experience.” Without having an open mind, Kreimerman Meyohas said that he would never have found himself in a program like the 3+3 which has opened the doors to a world of possibilities for him and his career.
