Isabella Chavez Miranda '25 (WSM/A&S), a rising senior, is making remarkable strides with her dual major in medicinal chemistry and business management. Her unique combination of interests showcases the flexibility and opportunities that Whitman School of Management offers to its students.
Her passion for business started in high school, but it was at Whitman that she truly began to see how her love for chemistry could align with her career aspirations. “Whitman’s ability to let students merge majors like medicinal chemistry and business management was a key factor in my decision. Whitman’s programs allow me to explore both my interests deeply,” she says.
Whitman’s environment has significantly shaped Chavez Miranda’s academic experience. “Whitman professors are incredibly supportive and engaging. They make even early morning classes enjoyable and are always willing to help outside of class,” she notes.
“The classes and professors at Whitman have been instrumental in my academic growth. They offer a deep understanding of business principles that complement my scientific studies,” she explains.
Chavez Miranda’s academic journey is bolstered by her role as a CoronatScholar, an impressive academic award through the College of Arts and Sciences. She aims to leverage her dual expertise in medicinal chemistry and business to pursue a career in hospital administration and eventually own hospitals. “Whitman has provided me with the knowledge and connections needed to make a significant impact in the healthcare sector,” she says.
Her study abroad experience in Madrid added an international dimension to her education. “Studying in Madrid was a valuable experience that broadened my understanding of business practices in a global context,” Chavez Miranda reflects.
One of Chavez Miranda’s favorite aspects of Whitman is the strong network of professors and alumni. “The connections I’ve built through Whitman have been incredibly supportive. They’ve helped me navigate my career path and achieve my goals,” she notes.
“It’s been challenging but rewarding. Whitman’s supportive environment and rigorous academics have prepared me well for my future.”
