Amanda Nicholson is an English-born businesswoman and educator who started her career in the retail field in the UK and then moved to the USA, where she rose to the level of VP for two separate divisions of a regional department store in Chicago. Following her retail career, she spent over 20 years in higher education at Syracuse University in Central New York State, while continuing to consult for retail organizations.
At Syracuse she has served as a faculty member in marketing, then as Associate Dean of Undergraduates for the Whitman School of Management, while continuing to teach. She also is a frequent guest lecturer for the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at their Syracuse residences and for the national VWISE program. Her last full-time position at SU was as the Assistant Provost for Student Success and finally as the Interim Senior Vice President for Enrollment and the Student Experience. Working and learning with all students and helping them engage, persist, and succeed is her passion.
Amanda holds an Associate degree from Kingston College in London, a Bachelor’s in English Literature and Psychology from SUNY, Albany, a Teaching certification in ESL and Language Studies from Le Moyne College, and a Master’s in Communication and Management from the Newhouse School. Her Ph.D. is in Organizational Behavior from the Maxwell School.

Professor Nicholson teaches a variety of courses in the retail area including Retailing Fundamentals, E-tailing as a Marketing Tool, and Retail Sales Management.
