Joined the Syracuse University faculty in 2003 following a 26-year diverse business career spanning several disciplines including executive management, operations, finance, management consulting and public accounting. Professional and teaching areas of interest focus on applied business ethics, leadership skills, and strategic management. Professional experience includes several leadership positions centered on organizational turnarounds, team re-building and directing strategic shifts.
History of corporate roles: CPA, Partner in Public Accounting, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Board member, in a variety of industries.

Cardarelli brings to his teaching nearly three decades of experience in executive management, operations, financial management, boards of directors, and consulting, where many of his roles have centered on resolving significant organizational and strategic challenges. He was the CEO of a two billion dollar conglomerate. He has successfully led several turnaround assignments in the manufacturing, financial services, food distribution, energy distribution, and aerospace sectors serving in division president and interim executive roles. His teaching focus areas include Leadership, Business Ethics, Organizational Behavior, Strategy and Management.
Professor Cardarelli has held numerous senior management positions in a variety of industries concentrating on organizational and financial restructuring. He is interested in the dynamics of leadership in stressed business environments and consults with organizations on Leadership Development, Succession Planning & Strategy. He is also the recipient of the 2009, 2014 & 2020 Whitman Professor of the Year award.
