Finally Arriving in Costa Rica

Finally arrived in Costa Rica! Our spring break immersion trip was led by Professor Torrens, our Practicing Entrepreneurship professor. When he’s not teaching at Whitman, he spends his time living and surfing in Nosara, Costa Rica.

We kicked off the morning at 7 a.m. with Torrens’ morning ritual—surfing at the beach. Never thought I’d be surfing, let alone in Costa Rica. Definitely out of my comfort zone, but I’m so glad I did it. Honestly, I was surprised I was able to catch some waves... but I did!

After some intense activities, we grabbed breakfast and then picked up our ATVs for a long, bumpy one-hour ride to start our Green River Canyon & Farm experience. We got to visit Don Jesus Ruiz on his historic farm. We even milked his cows—fun fact: the milk turned into cheese during the 30 minutes we spent swimming and cliff jumping in the river.

Jesus was kind enough to make us a lovely dinner, and we ended the day watching the beautiful sunset at Playa Guiones.
