Welcome to Tokyo/Seoul Immersion Trip 2023

Yesterday, our group of 20 students and 1 faculty member and 2 staff members started our 12-day adventure into the cities and cultures of Tokyo, Japan and Seoul, South Korea. Whitman School Professor Eunkyu Lee is leading the trip and it is his first in-person trip since before the COVID-19 outbreak.

During our time abroad, we will be visiting 11 companies (including Uniqlo, Hyundai, and Samsung), discussing a case study with Musashino University students, embarking on many cultural tours with our local guides in each city and much more!

The goal of the trip is to understand the business and social environments of both Tokyo and Seoul. Although on the surface Japan and South Korea might have a lot in common, Professor Lee has emphasized the distinct differences and tensions between them. We are setting out to discover both their similarities and differences, as well as how their shared history has formed this divide which they are currently working to rectify.

And we will enjoy a lot of new experiences and fresh local meals along the way. Join me as I take you through our journey!
