Meet the 2026 Legacy Partners

May 11, 2026

This year the 2026 team will have two legacy partners joining them on the ground. Legacy partners are former students who went on the trip in previous years and have since graduated. They will be bringing their wisdom and insight from their prior trips to enhance the team’s experience. Learn more about why our legacy partners Tage Oster and Gianna Davis chose to return to Kenya.

Tage Ostrom

Tage Oster ’24 (WSM/MAX)

Trip years: 2022 (team member) and 2023 (trip leader)

Why Kenya? A few reasons. The first: I miss the feeling I get from being there, and the mindset that remains in the months/years after I would like to refresh. The second, I think engaging as an alumni will be new and exciting both for myself and the current students, adding an element that could possibly enable new exploration and experiences for all involved.

I hope to: Reconnect with our trip partners, the university, and the program—but with the added dimension of a few years of professional experience behind me. That new vantage point feels meaningful. I'm curious what I’ll notice differently, what conversations will open up, and what it means to show up in this space now versus then. I also hope to add-value to the current students from a career exploration, and client engagement perspective.

What I am up to now: I am currently wrapping up my current role at EY-Parthenon in pursuit of a new opportunity starting later this year. I plan to use the time in between to reflect on my experience and reconnect with the people and passions that drive me.

Gianna Davis ’25

Trip years: 2023 (team member) and 2024 (MBA residency program)

Why Kenya? Because humans feel more human here.

I hope to: Show up differently this time. On my first and second trip, I was absorbing everything from the student perspective, trying to take in every moment without fully knowing what to expect. For this third visit, I come with a different role, and I hope to contribute my understanding of the program and the environment while creating space for students to form their own perspectives and experiences.

Beyond the trip itself, I see this as an opportunity to further develop my global business perspective. As I begin my professional life at EY, I’m especially interested in exploring pathways into global finance and advisory. Long term, I aspire to step into leadership roles where I can contribute to how firms operate across markets and cultures. Experiences like this strengthen my ability to navigate cross-cultural environments, build meaningful partnerships, and think more broadly about global business practices. All of which I hope to carry forward into my career.
And of course, I hope being a legacy partner strengthens my connection to SU. Having the opportunity to give back to an institution that gave so much to me is truly an honor.

What I am up to now: Living, working and running around New York City. That’s what I tell people. I’m currently working at Ernst & Young as an audit staff 1 in the Financial Services practice in our NYC headquarters, focusing on wealth and asset management. My work centers on private equity clients, where I support audits across both direct investments and fund-of-funds structures. It has been both challenging and rewarding as I build my foundation in the industry. Outside of work, running is a huge part of my life. Last year, I raced the TCS New York City Marathon, and I’m incredibly grateful to be doing it again this November. I raced the Brooklyn Half Marathon last weekend, where I achieved a new personal record of 1:32. This November, my goal is to break 3:20 in the marathon to qualify for Boston… a dream I have always had. In my free time, I am with my friends. They make the world go round.
