London's Center Classes Allow you to Explore the City

I’ve already had so many unforgettable experiences here in London, and the semester has barely started! Just today, my first class, HOA 372 – The Business of Art, took me to Unit London, a unique art gallery where we explored questions of authenticity, ownership and originality. As soon as that was finished, it was right off to Big Ben, Parliament, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace for my BUA 300 – Business of Tourism class. I certainly didn’t come to London just to sit in a classroom!

On the other hand, there are plenty of engaging lecturers and interesting readings at Faraday House, Syracuse University’s satellite campus near the center of the city. My FIN 355 – Money and Banking class – which dual counts as a finance and upper-division econ class – as well as my ECN 362 – Globalization, Development, and the Environment class have already shown me incredible new perspectives on topics that I thought I had explored in excruciating detail during these last few years at Whitman. There are so many once-in-a-lifetime classes here, and I wish I had the time to take even more!

Right now, I’m looking forward to going home and cooking dinner in my flat. There are plenty of excellent restaurants, but it’s important to budget your meals here. But really, there are plenty of things on my list; see an Arsenal game, visit the museums and even gravesites of some English luminaries, revisit the British Museum (there’s too much to see in just one day!), as well as visit some more out of the way tourist spots recommended to me by my professors. This semester is off to a great start and I’m excited to write all about it!
