A Very English Start to Strategic Management

Greetings from London! We wanted to share our kick-off experience with MGT 247 Intro to Strategic Management with Professor Catherine Maritan. Our first day of class was a bit different than in Syracuse. Imagine this- a lovely afternoon tea at The Montague on the Gardens, a historic hotel in the West End, and conveniently a short walk from our hub at Faraday House.

Amidst the clink of teacups, our tight-knit group of nine convened for the first time. Getting to know each other in a cozy tearoom, a somewhat atypical commencement, allowed us to not only share some laughs but establish a connection, creating an environment where personal growth converges with our academic pursuits.

Our introduction to the complexities of strategic management unfolded within the refined confines of afternoon tea, showcasing London's dedication to a time-honored tradition. Of course, our outing had a greater purpose than just scrumptious scones. Beyond the rigors of traditional classroom learning, the refinement of interpersonal skills and etiquette is integral to holistic professional development, aligning with the demands of a globalized business environment. The Whitman London Core Program transcends the conventional boundaries of academic coursework, intertwining classroom theories with real-world experiences.

As we embark on this academic journey together, we look forward to a semester characterized by collective learning. Stay tuned for our semester ahead; we'll keep you posted on what we're doing next!
