Family Weekend 2024

 

We look forward to welcoming Whitman Families and Supporters during Family Weekend 2024

 

Friday, September 27th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Internship Day Presentations: We enthusiastically invite you to join the Whitman Career Center and current Whitman students for an afternoon of celebration and internship information!  Whitman seniors and graduate students from all Whitman majors/programs will be presenting on their previous internship experience, what they learned, and how this shapes their plans for after Whitman.  Presentations begin at 1 p.m. and new student presenters will start every 20 minutes until 3:40 p.m.  Parents and supporters are welcome to stop by and are not required to stay for the full duration.

  • Location: Various classrooms in the Whitman building (schedule provided upon arrival)
  • Limited event capacity.  No registration required.  Please plan to arrive early.

Saturday, September 28th from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

9 a.m. Check-in & Welcome: Meet the Whitman Deans, Faculty and Staff.  Formal remarks will be given.  Light food and refreshments will be available.

 

9:30 a.m. Choose from one of the following three sessions depending on your student's class year.

Keys to Success: First Year Families (Locations listed below)

First year families should spend time connecting with your student’s House Mentor.  This is a great opportunity to learn more about the foundational course in Whitman and some highlights of the first semester.  Hear some success stories and advice on how to anticipate challenges along the way.

Sophomore Check-In (Lender Auditorium)

Our advisors will be sharing how to best utilize the resources available in the School as well as discuss some program planning like options for study abroad.

 

Conversations with the Career Center (Room 103)

Join the career center team to learn about their personalized approach to career coaching over your student’s four-year journey. You will learn about how the career center team partners with students to develop customized plans for student career success, gather information about how your student can explore careers across multiple industries to help them determine their career path, and learn details about Whitman undergraduate internship graduation requirement.     

 

10:30 a.m. Multi-cultural & First-Generation Parent Resource Group (optional)

During our session, you have an opportunity to meet parents from last year’s incoming class, meet our diverse faculty and learn more about how the Parents group supports one another and their students. In addition, the resource group provides advice and resources to multicultural and first-generation families to ensure their students can successfully navigate their college experience at the Whitman School of Management.
