Global Whitman: Syracuse University Abroad Vlog - Madrid Week 4
Spain is known for its delicious food. Food is very important to the Spanish culture, and the country has several famous dishes such as tortilla de patatas, paella, gazpacho and tapas. Not only does Spain have unique dishes, but Spain is also widely known for having a drastically different eating schedule. In Spain, people typically eat a very light yet sweet or savory breakfast. Later, people enjoy a very late lunch. Lunch is not usually served until 2 p.m. For lunch, you can order a normal meal or you can order a menú del día. A menu del día consists of a drink, a first course, a second course and a dessert. Because the Spanish eat a big lunch, they eat a much later and smaller dinner around 9 or 10 p.m. Spain is also known for its open food markets where people can buy all of their fresh produce, fish, meat and bread in one place.
