Global Whitman: Syracuse University Abroad Vlog - Madrid Week 5
Madrid has so many incredible sights to see throughout the city. From museums to monuments, to plazas, to parks – Madrid has so much to offer and is a great place to explore because of its rich history. Over the past two months, I have visited the city of Madrid and seen many of its beautiful landmarks. I have taken class trips to famous art museums such as the Prado, the Reina Sofía and the Thyssen. The famous Plaza mayor is a major public space in the heart of Madrid, and it was once the center of Old Madrid. Throughout the years, the Plaza Mayor has been used for a variety of different purposes. Additionally, I have wandered through the beautiful Retiro Park and enjoyed its green grass, lakes and architecture. Spain is also home to the largest functioning royal palace in Europe, The Royal Palace of Madrid. Lastly, Spain is not only known for its beautiful landmarks, but also its vibrant culture, including Flamenco shows. Flamenco is a type of dance that originated in Spain and is made up of singing, handclapping, shouting and toe and heel-clicking. I have enjoyed my program in Madrid and am glad I can spend time learning and exploring outside of the classroom in order to enhance my global perspective.
