Whitman Semester in NYC
Live, learn and work in the heart of global business with the Whitman Semester in NYC program!
The NYC Study Away program offers students a distinct living, learning, and working experience in the heart of the global business. This program provides a transformative experience aimed at preparing students for professional success. Students will work in a relevant, reference-worthy internship, develop strong connections in the SU network and be immersed in social and professional experiences. Whitman Semester in NYC is designed for juniors interested in gaining practical work experience and completing academic coursework.
Past internship placements have included Goldman Sachs, Acuity Partners, Habitat for Humanity, Apollo Global Management, Bloom Real Estate, EY, SONY, and more. If you are interested in hosting an intern please contact Sara Garvey, Director of Corporate Relations skgarvey@syr.edu
Courses offered to take full advantage of the NYC business and cultural environment and keep students on track for graduation.
Earn up to 15 credits; the curriculum includes:
- 3 credits: WRT307 (taken online)
- 3-6 credits: Arts & Science elective (taken online)
- 3 credits: Internship (BUA400): Minimum 10 hours of work per week
- 3 credits: January NYC-based Whitman elective
Qualifications:
- Must be a junior student by Fall 2024
- GPA > 3.0
- Must have completed both integrated cores
