Dr. Reed has banking industry experience which has infused her research and teaching, particularly in the samples she has selected and in the range of financial institutions examined in class. She has made significant contributions to the study of intellectual capital. However, her more recent research interests include the intersection of the external political environment, firm corporate social responsibility and gender.
Reed’s teaching efforts have been in the areas of strategic management at both the undergraduate level and graduate levels. She has also taught leadership at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
Professor Reed’s current research explores the role the state-level political governance plays in firm performance and corporate social responsibility. Her prior research interests focuses on how firms develop and utilize intellectual capital in performance-enhancing ways, and how the external environment impacts firm performance. A former banker in Chicago, she studies the banking industry but has also taken an interest in studying this phenomenon in entrepreneurial settings such as the film industry. She has been published in both management and nonprofit journals.
