Professor La Point has been a full time faculty at the Whitman School of Management for the past 21 years where he teaches undergraduate classes in Operations Management, Logistics Strategy, Distribution Center Operations, Lean Six Sigma and Project Management. His Lean Six Sigma class is an experiential learning class providing graduate students the opportunity to apply classroom content to real world problems. Prof. La Point has overseen approximately 200 Lean Six Sigma projects in private industry, the US Armed Forces and the Department of Defense.
Prior to Syracuse University Professor La Point spent his career working for large multi-national companies such as Xerox, UTC/Carrier, ITT Industries and Cooper Industries in all areas of supply chain. These experiences include operations, and front office administration. He brings his 17 years of experience in Supply Chain to the classroom.
Professor La Point is Director of the Salzberg Award Program, Former Director of the Singapore Summer Internship program (14 years) up until the COIVID-19 Pandemic and Co-Director of the Franklin Program in Supply Chain Management. He has lived and traveled extensively throughout S.E. Asia. He is a 2013 Meredith Teaching Award recipient, a recipient of the Dean's Citation and multiple recipient of the Chancellor’s Citation for Public Engagement. As a volunteer he has spent considerable time working with Crouse Hospital and the head of pulmonary care and ICU to standardize the treatment process for patients with COPD.
Professor La Point received his BS from Syracuse University in Transportation Distribution Management & Marketing, his MBA from Syracuse University in Quantitative methods, MS in Instructional Design Development & Evaluation from Syracuse University School of Education and is currently pursuing a PhD in Instructional Design, Development and Evaluation (estimated completion June 2024).

He has taught a number of entry-level and upper-division courses in supply chain management in the Whitman School. Prof. La Point teaches Project Management, Transportation and Distribution & Logistics strategy and particularly enjoys teaching his experiential class, Lean Six Sigma.
