Penelope Pooler is a professor of statistics, analytics, and data science. Before joining the Whitman faculty, she worked as a senior scientist at Integral Consulting, Inc. She also worked as a senior statistician at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, and spent many years working for the National Park Service and the U.S.G.S. on long term monitoring questions associated with climate change. She has also consulted with numerous clients in need of statistical and quantitative solutions to business challenges and data questions.

Professor Pooler earned her B.F.A. in economics and metalsmithing from Syracuse University, an MS. in statistics from Oregon State University, and her Ph.D. in statistics from Virginia Tech.

She has more than 20 years of professional and post-graduate education, applied research, consulting and teaching experience in private sector, academic, and government settings. I also have specialized teaching and communication skills and extensive collaborative experience.
