An Ambitious Accountant with Global Experience
Jenna Zamkov '25
Accounting
- Undergraduate
The guest speaker from PwC provided invaluable insights, and my professor’s guidance made me realize that accounting was where I wanted to focus.
Jenna Zamkov '25 is making significant strides in her academic and professional journey as an accounting major at the Whitman School of Management. With a strong academic record, boasting a 3.7 GPA, Zamkov has leveraged her time at Syracuse University to explore her passion for accounting and gain valuable hands-on experience. Recently, she began her role as an external audit intern at PwC in New York City, a position reflecting her commitment to the field and her high caliber education.
“I grew up in a Syracuse Orange family, and attending Whitman was always a goal for me. My parents’ careers in business inspired me to pursue a business degree,” Zamkov says.
She credits an influential accounting professor and a guest speaker from PwC with helping solidify her decision to specialize in accounting. “The guest speaker from PwC provided invaluable insights, and my professor’s guidance made me realize that accounting was where I wanted to focus,” Zamkov says.
During her time at Whitman, Zamkov has immersed herself in both academic and extracurricular activities. As a Whitman ambassador, she has actively represented the school and engaged with prospective students. Additionally, her participation in the Whitman Accounting Exploration trip offered her a deep dive into the accounting industry. This experience provided her with a clearer understanding of her future career path and the opportunities available in the field.
One of Zamkov’s standout experiences was studying abroad in Florence, Italy. “Studying in Italy was an eye-opening experience. It allowed me to indulge in a new culture and learn about business practices from an international perspective. I think this will be crucial for my career,” she says.
Whitman’s strong connections with major firms have also played a pivotal role in Zamkov’s professional development. “The accounting fraternity and the numerous workshops, including resume building sessions with Deloitte, provided me with essential skills and networking opportunities,” she notes. Her involvement in these activities, coupled with her academic achievements, including being named an Orange Success Scholar and making the Dean’s List, highlight her dedication.
Looking back on her Whitman experience, Zamkov says to incoming students, “You get out of the program what you put into it. Engage actively, build relationships, and make the most of the opportunities available to you.”
