IMPRESS Community Engagement Opportunities

    IMPRESS Peer Mentorship Program

The IMPRESS Peer Mentorship Program aims to foster a strong and meaningful relationship between mentees and peer mentors that will extend beyond the first year. A peer mentor will be a familiar face and act as a guide, a resource and a friend. A Peer Mentor provides mentorship to their assigned mentees, relaying information; useful to their transition to Whitman and ensuring they connect with each mentee individually.

Additionally, Peer Mentors attend Whitman community events each month giving their mentees a familiar face in a new environment. To build a strong community within their group, they host bi-weekly drop-ins and schedule bi-weekly office hours for members of their group to stop by and ask questions.

As part of their role, peer mentors share information and resources related to transitioning to Whitman/Syracuse, offering insights on things they wished they had known when they started. This helps their mentees navigate their new environment more effectively and feel more connected to the community.

    IMPRESS Community Board

The IMPRESS Community Board assists with program development and provides feedback on upcoming IMPRESS programs. They will have the responsibility of providing assistance in swiping ID cards and set-up at events. Additional opportunities such as tabling, conducting observations and providing support may also be open opportunities.

The board will meet every few weeks to give feedback on factors such as food options, location, and other elements of upcoming programs. The board is a great way to get more students involved in the program development process and to ensure that our programs are meeting the needs and expectations of our community. As well as members having the opportunity to develop leadership experience and network with other students who share their interests.
