Whitman Internship Experiences

The Whitman School believes internships are critical to the learning experience and can significantly benefit businesses. Internships allow companies to get to know Whitman's exceptionally trained students on a deeper level.

Our Whitman interns bring a fresh perspective to the workforce, offer technical knowledge and help to build better business practices. In turn, interns gain valuable real-world work experience and skills.

Internship Policies
  • All Whitman students must complete at least one 120-hour internship as a graduation requirement.
  • The experience should add additional skills to a student’s knowledge base.
  • Students should have the opportunity to develop and demonstrate action-oriented problem-solving, critical thinking and persuasive business communication skills.
  • Students must be exposed to “real” job situations relevant to their majors.
  • Participating firms must provide job descriptions with desired qualifications.
  • Firms must provide supervision by an individual with educational and/or professional background in the field of the experience.

The Whitman required internships are recommended to be completed during the summer between a student's junior and senior years. However, students are highly encouraged to complete multiple internships throughout their college career to best identify their strengths and cultural fit.

The Career Center at the Whitman School offers comprehensive and convenient opportunities to engage and recruit your corporation’s future business leaders. Our team is ready to partner with you as you work through the recruiting process.
