Institutional Cultural Partnerships
The Whitman School of Management works with several leading organizations that support underrepresented students, including the National Black MBA, the Ph.D. Project, Say Yes to Education, Association of Latino Professionals for America ( ALPFA) and the Network of Executive Women (NEW). Through these partnerships, our students have access to professional development, mentorship and professional networking. In addition, the collaborative partnerships assist Whitman in building diverse student pipelines and access to the top diverse professional talent.
The Whitman School is also the collegiate sponsor of the Metro New York Chapter of the National Black MBA Association, and the Entrepreneur Accelerator Summit (EAS) 2020. EAS aims to help minority and women-owned businesses, as well as aspiring entrepreneurs succeed in New York City with a series of workshops to help them accelerate their business goals.

Build Local Initiative
A student volunteer program that provides an opportunity to expand students' skill sets and apply their theoretical management knowledge to help solve real-life business solutions for small minority- and women-owned local businesses in Syracuse.
Whitman Future Leaders Program Initiative
A partnership between the Whitman School and Syracuse community organizations: CNY Syracuse YMCA, Say Yes to Education, and Image Initiative, is an eight-month college pipeline program. The purpose is to focus on engaging and assisting high school students from historically underrepresented minority communities. Throughout the year participants are exposed to a comprehensive curriculum, including college preparation, professional development, leadership activities and lectures rooted in business disciplines. Each student participant is paired with a Whitman student mentor who helps them navigate the program, develop tools for academic and personal success, and prepare for college applications and scholarships. The Future Leaders Program will introduce students to Whitman's outstanding faculty, staff and alumni of color, a collective group of extraordinary role models.
ALPFA – (Association of Latino Professionals For America)
ALPFA is the longest-standing Latino organization with 81,000+ members in 44 professional and more than 160 student chapters across America. Our vision is to be the premier business organization for expanding opportunities for Latino leadership in the global market. Whitman’s Collegiate Partnership is designed to increase placement rates of student members and provide professional networking and mentorship for our management students.
National Black MBA Association
NBMBAA® is positioned to help the Black community reach the highest levels of academia, increase lifetime median income potential, and reduce unemployment rates among the Black community. With 20,000 members in 40 professional chapters, they strive to increase awareness and facilitate access to graduate and business education programs in professional fields.
The Ph.D. Project
The Ph.D. Project was founded on the premise that workplace diversity could be improved by increasing the diversity of business school faculty. Today, our expansive network of supporters, sponsors and universities help Black/African Americans, Latinx/Hispanic Americans and Native Americans attain their business Ph.D. to become the business professors who will mentor the next generation of leaders.
The Network of Executive Women
The Network of Executive Women (NEW) is a professional community committed to advancing all women, growing businesses and transforming our workplaces through the power of community.NEW is a growing community of 13,500+ professional women representing nearly 900 organizations across North America. We are a strong collective voice for everyone in the corporate world who wants to see gender equality become a reality. We welcome all who champion our cause and are proud to have some very influential, forward-thinking women and men in our ranks.
