IGIS Asset Management: A Strategic Vision for Real Estate Investment

By Adewumi Adepoju ’26 MBA

Our final company visit during the South Korea study abroad program took us to IGIS Asset Management, the country’s largest real estate asset management firm. Established in 2010 and headquartered in Seoul, IGIS has become a powerhouse in the global real estate landscape by embracing a forward-looking investment philosophy, innovative asset strategies, and a strong client-centric culture.

IGIS operates at the intersection of finance and infrastructure, managing a diverse portfolio of real estate assets that includes office buildings, logistics centers, retail spaces, hotels and residential complexes. The firm serves major institutional investors such as pension funds, insurance companies, and sovereign wealth funds. With over a decade of strong growth, IGIS has solidified its position as a market leader, distinguished by an extensive investor network and a solid track record in delivering long-term returns.

Their business model extends across the full lifecycle of real estate investment, covering acquisition, development, financing, and property management. This comprehensive service approach allows them to maintain close relationships with clients while efficiently managing risk and maximizing value.

One of the most impressive aspects of IGIS is its global footprint. The company has established branch offices across the United States, Europe, and other Asian markets. This international presence empowers IGIS to tap into cross-border investment opportunities and mitigate risks using localized market knowledge.

During the visit, we learned how IGIS’s investment strategy reflects a combination of rigorous market research, disciplined risk management, and sustainable development. Their agility in responding to market changes and their commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles were particularly inspiring.

IGIS has also responded to post-pandemic challenges, such as rising interest rates and inflation, by recalibrating valuation models and adopting proptech solutions. These tools enable data-driven decision-making and enhance operational efficiency, illustrating the firm’s commitment to innovation and resilience in a volatile market.

Cultural Immersion and Farewell Moments
Beyond our corporate engagements, we had the privilege of connecting with the Seoul local community. This cultural visit provided a deeper appreciation for the city’s rich heritage, daily life, and urban transformation context that enriched our understanding of IGIS’s urban development projects.

Our journey concluded with a heartfelt farewell dinner at the Riverside Hotel, where we came together as a group to reflect on our shared experiences. We exchanged stories, insights, and memorable moments from the trip, as well as the challenges we encountered and suggestions for improvement. It was a fitting end to a transformative journey that blended professional development with personal growth.
